A method of producing dry charged negative electrodes for lead accumulators comprises drying the electrodes after formation and washing by piling them closely one above the other into prismatic blocks and heating the blocks by conduction to 100-250‹ C. The electrodes may be treated with an oxidation inhibitor prior to drying. The block of electrodes may be placed in a thermally insulated chamber which has a thermostatically controlled electrically heated wall 5, a pivoted wall 4 and a top 3 which rests freely on walls 4 and 5. The chamber can be disassembled.
