Durable, corrosion-resistant, black coatings are produced by treating Fe or Zn surfaces with an aq. acid soln. contg. >=0.001 wt.% (pref 0.005- 10%, esp. 0.01-5%) of tellurium cations. This coating can be combined with a corrosion resistant phosphate coating. An oil coating can be applied on top. The method is relatively inexpensive and esp. suitable for the motor car industry electrotechniques, etc. |
