Rotary disc vacuum filter - having suction distributor head with profiled window to reduce air intake during final stage of cake drying

Suction distributor head for rotary disc filter has a series of passages down the shaft fed from windows in the head. These windows are connected either to the vacuum source or to a compressed air source for cake removal. The window profile for suction is circular in form. In the shaft area where the cake on the discs is approaching dryness and therefoe the resistance to airflow reduced, the area of the window is reduced by a projection. This reduces the pumping load on the vacuum pump. Used esp. for coal filtration after flotation separation. Reduces the load which the vacuum pump has to cope with.
