The emergency brake is for road vehicles which can be operated by a passenger, not necessarily sitting at the side of the driver, but anywhere in the vehicle or external to it. The brake is especially intended for driving schools, is hydraulic and connected into the vehicle braking circuit. The force to operate the brake is built up as pressure behind a diaphragm (15) in a reservoir (11) during normal running and is released by a valve system operated by an electromagnet (28, 29). This can be operated manually by a switch anywhere in the vehicle or remotely by a small transmitter. Two sprung ball valves (38, 42) control the input (6a) and output (6b) pressures of the system. A piston valve (45) provides visual warning of low pressure by operating a lamp (46) circuit.
|
