Waste deposits are kept free of dust using effluent containing organic material. The proposed method involves dividing the surface of the waste deposit into plots, and adopting the following procedure: a) The surface of the waste deposit is covered by several layers of power station ash, preferably to a thickness of 30-140 cm. The bottom layer of this cover is stabilized by the addition of lime containing material, 3-20% by volume. b) Domestic effluent sludge is spread over the in one or more layers, to a thickness of 20-80cm. c) The sludge is ploughed into the top 10-30 cm of the ash. d) The seeds of fast growing plants (preferably wild plants) are sown into the top layer of the cover. e) When the plants are 6-10cm tall they are ploughed into the top layer. Steps d) and e) may be repeated several times. In some cases fast growing grasses and/or industrially useful plants and/or trees are planted. |
