The endoscope is distinguished by exchangeable eyepiece parts. Exchangeable eyepiece parts are, for example, devices for direct observation, such as a monocular tube (17), a binocular tube (14), but also devices for indirect observation, such as a projection device (15), a TV camera (19) or a photographic camera (21). Furthermore auxiliary devices such as an extension tube (11), an adaptor (12) for inward reflection or an angular adaptor (13) can be inserted between the tube of the endoscope and the observing device. For the purpose of correctly transmitting the image from the object field (15) to the observing device, the image-transmitting system in the endoscope is constructed in such a way that the last image plane (9) is located outside the support member (1). <IMAGE>
