PURPOSE:To enlarge the space required for a driver when the gets on and off a vehicle and the living occupancy space, and reduce the size of a transmission case by disposing both a traveling speed change mechanism and a forward/reverse gear changing mechanism belot a clutch output shaft and having a counter gear shaft placed between a main speed changing shaft and a back idling shaft. CONSTITUTION:The main speed changing shaft 4 of a traveling speed changing mechanism M which is driven by a clutch output shaft 3 is disposed behind a clutch output shaft 3 in a main clutch. There are mounted a counter gear shaft 7 which is driven by a main speed changing shaft 4, and both a back idling shaft 20 and a speed changing output shaft 22 of a forward/reverse gear change-over mechanism B which is driven by the counter gear shaft 7. Both the traveling speed changing mechanism M and the forward/reverse gear change-over mechanism B are disposed in the near position just underneath the clutch output shaft 3 and furthermore, the counter gear shaft 7 is disposed as it is put between the main speed changing shaft 4 and the back idling shaft 20. In this construction, the near space just above the traveling speed changing mechanism M can be used for driver's getting-on and -off behavior and living occupancy and a transmission case 1 can be reduced in size.
