In a device for comminuting waste of all kinds, in which device two drawing-in shafts are arranged which run in parallel at a distance from one another in a housing, are driven in opposite directions, and on which cutting discs which are arranged axially offset with respect to one another, engage one in the other and have radially protruding tearing teeth are provided in a rotationally fixed manner, in addition to the existing shafts there are, in the area of action of the tearing teeth, waste guiding devices in the axial direction of the shafts. The guiding devices prevent material which is to be comminuted from penetrating too deeply into the device so that a uniform (small) particle size of the comminuted material is produced and, also, the system does not have to be reversed during operation, i.e. a continuous, if required automatic, operation without interruption is possible.
