The redn. is carried out in the presence of a catalyst, in a reaction chamber. Pref. the catalyst is added as a powder. The reduction medium is pref. ammonia. The overall arrangement comprises a hearth, heat exchanger, electrostatic duct separator to remove fly ash etc., a first reactor to remove gaseous cpds., e.g. sulphur dioxide, another heat exchanger, to raise the temp. of the gas stream for the record reactor. The other gases are removed in the presence of a catalyst e.g. nitrogen oxides. Ammonia is added via a pipe. |
