<p>The present specification discloses a wheel comprising a central hub (1) and an outer rim (3) interconnected by a web (5). A pair of annular braking discs (9,11) are mounted one on each side of the web (5), each annular braking disc (9,11) being secured to the web (5) by at least two bolt arrangements (13). Each bolt arrangement (13) passes as a close fit through aligned apertures (17) in the braking discs (9,11) and with clearance through an aperture (7) in the web (5), and each bolt arrangement is offset radially rearwardly of the wheel with respect to the centre of the aperture (7) in the web (5). Preferably each bolt arrangement (13) engages the radially inner section of the edge of an aperture (7) in the web (5) so that the braking discs (9,11) are positioned correctly when cool preventing any cumulative imbalance in the wheel due to the braking discs (9,11) expanding and thus moving relative to the web (5) under the effect of the heat generated under braking.</p> |
