PURPOSE: To select an architecture for improving the calculating speed or an architecture for reducing the hardware bulk for a correlator, and to reduce data flow to be transmitted for a picture(television, videophone) or voice processing. CONSTITUTION: This is a correlating device in which correlation between the present block of a first picture and the symbol block of a second picture is decided, and a moving vector is decided. The limited number of reference symbols are selected from a block to be processed by the correlating device by selecting means 26 and 27. This selection is executed by random selection or as the function of the data content of the block. A correlator 25 executes correlation calculation successively for the block for the whole present blocks, and a deciding unit 28 decides a moving vector. |
