PURPOSE:To offer a thermal head controller by which the print density is kept constant in either thermal transfer printing or heat-sensitive printing. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head is equipped with a transistor TR4 and a control circuit. The transistor TR4 detects a printing method to be used, that is, either thermal transfer printing or heat-sensitive printing, according to a cassette existence signal. The control circuit controls the print density independently of the printing method to be used in such a manner that it changes values of combined resistors R10 and R20 that are components of the control circuit to control the printing voltage VH of the thermal head. |
