A method of inhibiting the transmission of AIDS virus in humans upon sexual intercourse comprises topically applying an effective antiviral amount of a silver salt, such as silver sulfadiazine to a sexual canal, such as a vaginal canal or an anal canal, of a human prior to or during sexual intercourse. Other components may be present such as an antiviral biguanide. |
