PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain high light transmittance under a desired impressing voltage by forming plural divided electrodes which are arranged at interval on one side of the substrate of a phase correcting element consisting of an an-isotropic optical medium held between tansparent substrates and contholling the length of the interval to a specified length or shorter. SOLUTION: Glass substrates 21a and 21b are bonded with a sealing material 22 consisting of a spacer made of glass and a conductive spacer consisting of resin having gold and the like coated on the surface thereof. Electrodes 24a and 24b consisting of a transparent electrode film such as an ITO film, an insulating film 25 consisting essentially of silica and an alignment layer 26 are formed on inner liquid crystal side surfaces of the glass substrates 21a and 21b. The electrode 24a is wired to a phase correcting element controlling circuit with a connecting line of an electrode drawing part 27. The inner part of the liquid crystal cell is filled with nematic liquid crystal. The electrode 24a has plural electrodes divided in accordance with purposes for correcting spherical aberration, astigmatism, a tilt and the like and formed by photolithography and the interval between any two electrodes adjacent to each other is specified to be 7 μm or shorter. |
