PURPOSE:To enhance a current-voltage characteristic by making fuel gas and water flow by the aid of a ribbed anode and a ribbed cathode. CONSTITUTION:Water flowing from a water supply pipe 9 into an anode chamber 1 is supplied from a lateral spanning member 10 to a groove formed in a ribbed anode 4 through a fine path 12. Gas is supplied from a fuel gas supply pipe 8A. A part of the water is absorbed by the anode 4, to be absorbed by a solid high molecular electrolyte film 3. The residual is merged the lower portion, to be discharged from a common discharge pipe 11A together with unreacted fuel gas. Oxidant gas is supplied into a cathode chamber 2 from an oxidant gas supply pipe 8B, and is discharged through a discharge pipe 11B together with water produced in the cathode after flowing through ribs attached to a ribbed cathode 5. A platinum catalyst is formed between the cathode 5 and the film 3. Consequently, each of film including water and the fuel gas can sufficiently reach the anode with high efficiency, thereby enhancing a current-voltage characteristic. |
