PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmitter that can realize high immunity to scattering in a coding system having a carrier of an NRZ signal and an RZ signal or the like where the need for a pre-coder circuit is eliminated. SOLUTION: A separator circuit 13 separates a CW light emitted from a light source 11 in the optical transmitter 1 into two signals, an intensity modulator 14 modulates the one CW light with an electric signal. A gain variable unit 15 adjusts optical power of the other CW light and a phase shifter 16 shifts the phase of the other CW light. Only a carrier component of a modulated optical signal receives a phase shift through multiplexing of the CW lights by a multiplexer circuit 17. A phase control section 18 controls the phase shifter 16 and the gain variable unit 15. The optical signal emitted from an interference section 12 is sent to a transmission line. |
