PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of jamming and to improve carrying efficiency by setting space between preceding paper and following paper equal to or longer than the length of the preceding paper in a carrying direction when paper having different paper size coexists and is continuously reversed and ejected and it is double-sidedly copied. SOLUTION: When the paper having the different paper size coexists and is continuously reversed and ejected and it is double-sidedly copied, the space between the preceding paper and the following paper is set to be equal to or longer than the length of the preceding paper in the carrying direction. Namely, in this device, a paper-to-paper distance is set to be sufficient length to such an extent that the preceding paper and the following paper 172 are not superposed each other. As for such length, it is so long that the trailing edge 171b of the preceding paper does not abut on the trailing edge of the following paper 172, and it is such length that the trailing edge 171b of the preceding paper passes through a nip between a pair of carrying rollers 107, for example, at the time of finishing the carrying of the following paper 172 to an intermediate tray 105.
