<p>A vehicle seat comprises adjustement mechanism (5) for adjusting the inclination of the backrest of the seat (2), said adjustment mechanism comprising components (6a, 6b) which move relative to one another whilst adjustment is occasioned. The adjustment mechanism comprises a release member (7) movable between an inoperative position in which said components are retained in operative engagment and which the backrest is held at an adjusted inclination, and an operative position in which said components are operatively disengaged. Operative between the vehicle seat and the adjustment mechanism is a setting mechanism (9) which is settable in a position in accordance with the backrest inclination, means being provided for controlling the setting mechanism in accordance with whether the seat is occupied or not. The setting means comprises means to secure to secure the setting assembly in a pre-set position whilst the backrest is moved to an 'access' position, enabling the backrest to be returned to its pre-set position.</p> |
