PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance transparency, gas-barrier properties and impact resistance by forming a membrane based on inorg. oxide on at least the single surface of a trimethylene terephthalate (PTT) film. SOLUTION: A PTT film is formed by extruding a PTT resin in a molten state to stretch, cool and thermally fix the extrudate if necessary. Pref., the extrudate is stretched twice or more because mechanical characteristics become excellent. The PTT resin is extruded and stretched twice laterally and stretched twice longitudinally to form the PTT film with a thickness of 15μm. An electron gun heating vacuum vapor deposition apparatus is used and SiO is used as a vapor deposition raw material to form a layer with a thickness of 60 nm of SiOx (x=1.7). The oxygen permeability of this transparent barrier film is measured by using an oxygen permeability measuring apparatus. The measured oxygen permeability is 1.5 cc/m<2> /day/atm at a humidity of 0% RH and a temp. of 25 deg.C, and it is 1.4 when humidity is raised to 95% RH.
