MOTION VECTOR PREDICTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the motion vector predictive coding method that is capable of restoring a motion vector lost after occurrence of an error. SOLUTION: The motion vector prediction method includes a process where a motion vector of a macro block is calculated and a process where a motion vector is predicted in a series of sequence from the left to the right among adjacent blocks in the case of macro blocks 20, 26 having one motion vector. In the case of macro blocks 22, 24, 28 having four motion vectors, the four motion vectors are predicted continuously in a prescribed sequence so that prediction to four motion vectors has a correlation to each other.
