PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high output. SOLUTION: A light amplifier fiber 10 has a double clad construction comprising a first clad and a second clad which are excited by a core 10a to which a first element emitting with a wavelengthλs of signal light and exciting light (wavelengthλp) and a first element which generates the exciting light (wavelengthλb) generating the second element are added. The signal light propagates through the light fiber 12 and is incident to a wave adder 14. Exciting light (wavelengthλp) output from the exciting light source 16 is incident to the wave adder 14 through a converging lens 18, multilayer film reflecting mirror 20 and light fiber 22 having a large core diameter. The multilayer film reflecting mirror 20 transmits wavelengthλp but reflects wavelengthλb. The wave adder 14 makes a signal light from the light fiber 12 incident to the core 10a and makes the exciting light from the fiber 22 incident to the first clad 10b. A multilayer film mirror 32 at the opposite end of the light amplifying fiber 10 transmits the signal light and reflects light generated from the second element. |
