Retention device for processor module

A system for retaining terminals on a leading end 26 of a circuit card 22 in a protective cover 24 in contact with terminals in a so-called "Slot 1" connector 12 includes a frame 40 with a connector receiving opening 42 and an upstanding channel-shaped retention member 54 at each end. Each retention member 54 has an aperture 60 adjacent its distal end and a mounting block 44 at its proximal end through holes in which fasteners 64 connect the mounting blocks 44 to a circuit board 18. A resilient member in an opening 62 between each retention member 54 and an adjacent end of the connector 12 is compressed as the circuit card 22 becomes fully engaged with the connector 12 and latch projections 34 on side portions 32 of the cover 24 engage the apertures 60. The resilient members prevent vibration of the circuit card 22 and assist its removal upon release of the latch projections 34.
