The present invention provides a liquid composition containing a cationic fluorocarbon surfactant having a general formula [I] or [II] and a polymer compound in a solvent, and a liquid composition containing a cationic fluorocarbon surfactant having a general formula [III] and a polymer compound in a solvent: wherein Rf represents a fluorocarbon group in which at least some of the hydrogen atoms in an alkyl group having 4 to 12 carbon atoms are substituted by fluorine atoms, each of R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having 1 to 3 carbon atoms, HX represents a hydrohalogenic acid, and X(-) represents a halogen anion; wherein n represents an integer from 4 to 12, and X(-) represents a halogen anion. The present invention further provides an ink set, in which the above liquid composition is combined with one or more inks, a method of forming an image and apparatus for forming the image by applying the ink set and liquid composition.
