PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a novel tridecanolide derivative that has the proliferation inhibitory action against cancer cells, for example, leukemia cells and is useful as an anti-cancer agent. SOLUTION: This novel compound is represented by formula I (R1 is H, an alkyl, a cycloalkyl or an alkenyl; R2 and R3 are each H, a protecting group for hydroxyl; X is H, a halogen; and Y is H, hydroxyl, and alkoxy, or a cycloalkoxy), typically the compound of formula II. The compound of formula I is obtained by extracting a marine organism collected from the sea area near an island in Okinawa prefecture, Japan, for example, an ascidian (Lissoclium sp.) with an organic solvent, for example, methanol, ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate or the like, isolating and purifying the extract through the thin- layer chromatography or the high-performance liquid chromatography. The tridecanolide derivative is preferably used as an anti-cancer agent. |
