<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intensity ratio variably separating device which can be driven with a low voltage, in which high reliability can be obtained and also the character of a loss wavelength having an arbitrary and complex form can be obtained. SOLUTION: A first collimating lends 3a aligns incident rays of light from an input terminal 1 to parallel beams, a variable Faraday rotator 8 performs control for rotating arbitrarily polarization planes of the incident parallel beams and a first double refraction plate 10a separates the beams into an ordinary ray L1 and an extraordinary ray L2 whose intensity ratios are changed in accordance with angles of the polarization planes of the incident rays of light. A glass plate 4 makes the rays of light cause Mach-Zehnder interference by transmitting a part of the ordinary ray L1, and then the rays of light are collected by a second double refraction plate 10b and a second collimating lends 3b, and outputted to an output terminal 2.</p> |
