PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the step of a staircase by installing a new auxiliary staircase top board, whose height is equal to approximate half the existing step and whose length is equal to approximate half the width of a staircase top board, in between the existing respective staircase top boards, and make the auxiliary staircase top board foldable for enabling the installation of the auxiliary staircase top board according to need and enabling the use of the auxiliary staircase top board in conjunction with the existing staircase. SOLUTION: A mounting shaft 8 is installed in a section from an upper step 2 of the existing staircase 1 to a base part 3 of the staircase 1 on one side of the staircase 1. Each of the auxiliary staircase top boards 13 has the height equal to approximately half the existing step and the length equal to approximately half the width of the staircase top board 4. The mounting shaft 8 allows each of the top boards 13 to be installed in the intermediate section of each of the top boards 4 by adjusting a clamp 7 according to the angle of gradient of the staircase 1, the breadth of the top board 4 and the position of the staircase 1. Additionally, the respective top boards 13 and supporting legs 14 and 15 for the top boards 13 are coupled together by hinges 17 and 18, and the top boards 13 can be folded by being moved upward and downward.
