PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a header tank and a heat exchanger which uses the header tank and has excellent corrosion resistance. SOLUTION: The header tank consists of an aluminum alloy extrusion tube having a composition containing 0.8 to 1.3% Mn, >0.8 to 1.2% Si, 0.03 to 0.09% Cu and 0.15 to 0.20% Ti, and, if required, further containing 0.01 to 0.05% Zr, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities. The outer surface of the header tank is provided with a slot and is coated with a brazing filler metal composition containing Al-Si-Zn based alloy brazing filler metal powder having a composition containing 15 to 30% Si and 2 to 10% Zn, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities, flux, and a binder. The heat exchanger has a structure formed by inserting and joining a tube having a composition containing 0.1 to 0.2% Mn and 0.4 to 0.5% Cu, and the balance Al with inevitable impurities into the above slot.
