PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce variation of an instrumental error in light emission quantity of LED elements. SOLUTION: A CCD scanner is provided with an adjustment circuit. Current set value (Ei0 to Ei255 , and i: R, G and B) of the respective color LED elements and a desired value LPi±Ai (A: tolerance) to be the optimum light quantity of the respective color LED elements are stored in the adjustment circuit. Light quantity is adjusted while performing binary search in each of the respective color LED elements to decide the current values of the respective color LED elements. Light quantity adjustment by binary search is respectively performed about position adjustment of an image in a manual operation mode. Image reading and position adjustment are performed by using the current value decided at light quantity adjustment.
