PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To deal with a high recording density by sufficiently narrowing a track width. SOLUTION: The head is provided with a reproducing magnetic core 1 formed through a reproducing magnetic gap in a direction orthogonal to a film forming direction, a tunnel magneto-resistance effect element 7 connected to the reproducing magnetic core 1 to receive the application of a magnetic flux flowing to the reproducing magnetic core 1, a shield layer 4 arranged on the tunnel magneto-resistance effect element 7, and a recording magnetic core 2 formed on the shield layer 4 through a recording magnetic gap in a direction orthogonal to the film forming direction, and a recording/reproducing track width W/w is controlled by a film thickness of each of the recording and reproducing cores 2 and 1.
