<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for decomposing dinitrogen monoxide gas which make it possible to render dinitrogen monoxide gas completely harmless under normal temperature and pressure with low energy. SOLUTION: The apparatus for decomposing dinitrogen monoxide gas includes a treating apparatus main body 11 having an introducing passage 25 for a gas-to-be treated containing N2 O, a gas permeable tubular body 16 inserted into the treating apparatus main body, an anode electrode in an anode chamber 14 provided in the gas permeable tubular body, a cathode electrode 17 provided in contact with the outside surface of the gas permeable tubular body, a water supply pipe line 20 for supplying water into the gas permeable tubular body and a power source for applying voltage between the anode electrode and the cathode electrode. N2 O in the gas to be treated is electrochemically reduction decomposed using the decomposing apparatus by proton generated by the electrolysis of water in the anode electrode 14 and permeating through the gas permeable tubular body to reach the cathode electrode 17 side.</p> |
