PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit capable of eliminating an isolated point accurately and speedily by a small number of processing times even if a reference image region is large. SOLUTION: The image processing unit comprises a reference pixel data extractor 204 for extracting from image data as reference image data; a logic operation processor 205 for performing logic operation processing to the reference pixel data; an elimination candidate detector 206 for investigating data generated by the logic operation processor 205 to extract the start and end positions of the elimination candidate region having a pixel value determined as noise; and a pixel value change section 207 for changing all pixel values corresponding to the elimination candidate region in the reference pixel data to prescribed background pixel values, when the difference between the start and end positions detected by the elimination candidate detection section 206 is a prescribed threshold or smaller.
