PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lead-acid battery capable of providing a large height ratio of an electrode group with respect to the capacity of a battery jar by reducing the wasteful dead space within the battery jar. SOLUTION: In this lead-acid battery comprising a pole 20 within one cell chamber 13 and the pole 20 within the other cell chamber 13 facing mutually to each other through a separator 12 and mutually connected through a through- hole 21 by resistance welding, an electrode plate group 14 is housed in each cell chamber 13, in a state where its thickness direction is parallel to the plane direction of the separator 12. The electrode plates of the same polarity of the electrode plate group 14 are mutually connected by a strap 18 extending in parallel to the plane direction of the separator 12, and an arm 19 extending toward the separator 12 is provided on the strap 18. The pole 20 arranged opposite to the through-hole 21 is connected to the tip of the arm 19 so that the arm 19 is not arranged in the lower level thereof, and supported thereby to ensure space for allowing the insertion of a welding jig between the strap 18 and the pole 20. |
