PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging optical system which is low in cost and thin and can cope with high pixel density and a wide viewing angle. SOLUTION: The imaging optical system is used to form an optical image of an object on the light receiving surface of an imaging element SR. In an optical prism PR, light beams from the object side are made incident on an incident surface S1, reflected by reflection surfaces made of curved surfaces, a second surface S2 to a fourth surface S4 and emitted from an exit surface S5. The optical prism PR is constituted by a medium whose refractive index is≥1.2, and an optical aperture ST is arranged on the third surface S3. The second surface S2 to the fourth surface S4 are the surfaces which are eccentrically arranged and rotationally asymmetric surfaces. The incident light beams to the third surface S3 and the reflected light beams from the fourth surface S4 are crossed with each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
