摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical wavelength controller capable of pulling the optical wavelength of a light source which is indefinite and unstable in a central wavelength into a prescribed reference light wavelength at an optical pulling frequency width of >=100 GHz and an optical wavelength control method. SOLUTION: This optical wavelength controller has a wavelength sweep section 2 which obtains a light pulse having a phase corresponding to the optical wavelength of the light to be controlled inputted from the wavelength variable light source 1 by sweeping the light to be controlled at a prescribed period and a phase detection section 3 which controls the wavelength variable light source 1 by detecting the phase difference between the phase of the light pulse and the phase corresponding to the reference optical wavelength and feeding the phase difference back to the wavelength variable light source 1 in such a manner that the optical wavelength of the light to be controlled is controlled by the optical pulling frequency to the refractive index optical wavelength in accordance with the phase difference. As a result, a wide-band control required for the optical frequency control of the light source used in an ultra- high speed time division multiplex optical transmission system and high-density wavelength multiplex optical transmission system.
