PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the need of an exclusive plate for landing detection. SOLUTION: A horizontal distance with a part 81 to be detected integrally formed on a land sill at a landing is detected by a distance detection means 7 provided on a car side such that a level difference is provided in a lifting direction of the car to detect a position relative to a land sill of the car. Further, a horizontal distance with a hoistway surface at the landing including at least recession projection by the land sill and toe guard is detected by a distance detection means comprising a plurality of distance detectors provided at the car side, and the position of the car relative to the land sill is detected from a combination of the horizontal distances detected by the plurality of distance detectors.
