PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent device having a luminescent layer containing semiconductor nano particles, wherein luminescence derived from compounds other than the semiconductor nano particles is minimized as much as possible. SOLUTION: The electroluminescent device 1 comprises an anode (a transparent electrode 12) and a cathode 16, and a laminate held between the anode and the cathode 16 and having at least a hardened film layer 13 and the luminescent layer (a nano particle luminescent layer) 14 laminated in sequence. The luminescent layer 14 and the hardened film layer 13 are close to each other, and the luminescent layer 14 contains the semiconductor nano particles. The hardened film layer 13 contains at least one of cross-linking agent and is a hardened film where cross-linking agent is polymerized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
