摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress reduction in display quality caused by thickness unevenness of an alignment layer by suppressing fluidity obstruction of an alignment material due to an insulating film. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device is characterized in that: it has a pair of substrates and a liquid crystal interposed therebetween, and includes a plurality of sub-pixels G in each of which a transmission display region Gt and a reflection display region Gr are provided; one substrate 110 has switching devices 113 provided according to the sub-pixels, wiring lines 112 connected thereto, and an insulating film 115 disposed on the switching devices and the wiring lines; the insulating film has recesses 115x, 115z, respectively, in the transmission display region and a region along the boundary of the adjacent sub-pixels; at least a part of the part except for the recess of the insulating film is disposed so as to be two-dimensionally superposed on the reflection display region; and the recesses 115z formed in the region along the boundary of the adjacent sub-pixels is shallower than the recesses 115x formed in the transmission display region. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
