The present invention relates to a monitoring method and apparatus using a camera. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a monitoring method using a camera comprises the steps of: receiving an input image captured by the camera; detecting an object present in the input image, and the location information of the object; generating a compensation image by compensating for the distorted region of the input image; generating a synthetic image by synthesizing warning display information generated on the basis of the location information to the compensated image; and outputting the synthetic image by a display. According to the present invention, a pedestrian or an obstacle of an input image before distortion compensation can be detected as an object, and warning display information corresponding to the object can be synthesized to a compensated image generated by distortion compensation, and the synthetic image can be outputted, reducing the risk of an accident when a vehicle moves. |
