Persona based recommendations

Location data may be obtained through devices associated with one or more users. The actual locations and places that correspond to the location data may be inferred. Location patterns that represent when and where each user spends their time may also be determined. One or more personas that represent categories corresponding to types of behavior or location patterns that users may exhibit may be created and maintained. One or more of the personas may be assigned to or associated with each of the users based on the location patterns associated with each user and the type of behavior that is expected to be exhibited for each persona. One or more recommendations may be provided to the users based at least partly on the personas that have been assigned to the users, which may cause the users to receive recommendations that are likely to be of particular interest.

memory; one or more processors; one or more modules maintained in the memory and executed on the one or more processors to:
obtain first location data corresponding to one or more first physical locations associated with a user device;obtain, from one or more merchant devices, second location data corresponding to one or more second physical locations associated with a user associated with the user device;determine location patterns associated with the user device based at least in part on the first location data and the second location data;create a first persona that represents a first category of user behavior and a second persona that represents a second category of user behavior;utilize the location patterns to associate the user device with the first persona; andprovide recommendations to the user device based at least in part on the user device being associated with the first persona, the recommendations identifying one or more other users not previously socially connected to the user, at least one other user of the one or more other users being identified based at least partly on the at least one other user being associated with the first persona.
