In an example embodiment, a transmitter of a wireless communication device may incrementally increase a level of transmit power by a predefined amount, based on a channel quality indicator, up to a limited maximum level of transmit power to control the peak transmit power and further may control the Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR).

1. A method, comprising:
dynamically implementing modulation and coding schemes (MCS) and corresponding levels of a transmitting power, based on changes in a condition of a wireless communication channel, that are suitable for the condition of the wireless communication channel at a given time; and increasing a level of the transmitting power of a transmitter incrementally by a predefined amount, up to a predefined limited maximum power level less than a maximum power level of the transmitter, when no MCS is suitable for the condition of the wireless communication channel as the condition deteriorates.
