[Also in Division G3] A pneumatic control mechanism such as for a tool slide in a machine tool, comprises a member 20 whose position is to be varied by subjecting it to pressures, in opposite directions, by two channels 3, 4 and 11, 12 connected to a common source 1, each channel including supply and receiving nozzles 7, 9 and 8, 10 respectively and a movable control member 15 displaceable transversely to the nozzles whereby the pressures in the two channels are simultaneously varied in opposite directions. As applied to a machine tool, a template 25, Fig. 1, acts on a pin 26 fixed to a pivoted member 28 which, through a pivoted lever 31 and pin 35, moves a spring-loaded pivoted lever 16. The control member 15, in the form of a vane, is attached to the end of the lever 16 and positioned between two supply nozzles 7, 8 and two receiving nozzles 9, 10; the vane is provided with control edges 18, 19 as shown in Fig. 3, so that, upon movement of the vane, the output from the other pair is increased a corresponding amount. The pressure differential produced by the nozzles is applied to the ends of a relay valve 20, Fig. 5, which controls the supply of oil to a power piston connected to the tool slide. Alternatively, the differential pressure may be applied to opposed pistons adapted to move a nozzle supplying pressurized oil to a pair of turbine wheels actuating the tool slide. In a modification, the lever 16 can be moved by a piston through a pin 38 in response to pressure applied to a piston 37.</p>
