摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find a compressibility capable of making the data quantity of a picture signal after compression coding a desired value in a short time in a digital still camera. SOLUTION: The initial values sf1 and sf2 of a searching range are set concerning a scale factor deciding a compressibility to approximate correlation between the scale factor sf and a data volume (v) after compression encoding by setting the result (Fig. (a)) of respectively compression encoding processing by JPEG-LSI based on sf1 and sf2. Then a scale factor sf' equivalent to a desired data volume vs on the approximated characteristic is found (Fig. (c)). Then the setting of initial values sf1 and sf2 are on a lower compression side along with the increase of the desired data volume of a photographing mode corresponding to the difference of the data volume by the photographing mode.
