A baling press comprises a plurality of receptacles 19, 20, (41, 42) each secured to a turn-table 11 in line with one of a plurality of openings 13-16, therein, means 26, 27, 23, 24 for delivering fibrous material to a first group of receptacles, piston means 30, 31 for compressing the pulp to form bales, means for indexing the turn-table to position a second group of receptacles in line with the delivery means, and means (43-46) for ejecting the bales from the first group of receptacles. As shown, two diametrically opposed receptacles are being filled and tamped at stations A, B while bales are being ejected at stations C, D. When a predetermined bale volume and density are reached, sensing means 40 actuates drive means 37 to rotate the turn-table through 90 degrees. Hydraulic cylinders 32, 33 and pistons 34, 35 support the receptacles during filling and tamping. Hydraulic cylinders (43, 44), Fig. 3 (not shown), and pistons (45, 46) lift the bales out of the receptacles (41, 42) for removal by pistons 56, 57, (Fig. 1), or in opposite directions by pistons (50, 51), Fig. 3 (not shown).</p> |
