An hydraulic steering mechanism for ships or aircraft comprises a rudderstock or transmission shaft 1 for the ship or aircraft rudder, on which is mounted a rocker arm 4 carrying two rollers 5 which co-operate with the rams 7, 7<SP>1</SP> of two hydraulic cylinders 8, 8<SP>1</SP> each inclined to the normal to the plane of symmetry of the rocker, when in one position, at an angleαequal to half the angle between the radii from the centre of the shaft 1 to the rollers 5. The rams 7, 71 may have spring devices 9, 9<SP>1</SP> to hold the rams in contact with the rollers 5. The rocker arm 4 may be held on the shaft 1 by a key 2.</p> |
