1,215,281. Washing gas-filters. J. W. ROBINSON. 1 Jan., 1969 [12 Jan., 1968], No. 74/ 69. Heading BIT. A filter element 14 inclined to the horizontal is cleaned by a horizontally reciprocatable header assembly which supplies cleaning liquid through sprays 21-23 so designed that the spray pattern substantially covers the height L of the filter element, the concentration of cleaning liquid delivered to the upper part being greater than that at the lower part. Thus the effect of gravity is counteracted and the filter element experiences a uniform concentration of cleaning liquid. As described the effect is achieved by providing each nozzle with an asymmetric spray pattern and by locating the upper nozzle 21 closer to the filter element. A theoretical cost-analysis is disclosed. |
