A pipe clamp for holding pipes end-to-end during welding carries a shoe 42 which may be pressed by an eccentric 46 against a selected portion of one of the pipes. The clamp comprises split rings 12, 14 provided with hinges 16 and a common locking device 18 and interconnected by straps 28. Cam eccentrics 46 are slidably and rotatably carried by rods 40 terminating in sliders 34 engaging in dovetail slots in the peripheries or sides of the rings 12, 14. Pressure shoes 48 each have an accurate surface engaging an eccentric 46 which surface may be over 180 degrees. The shoes 48 and eccentrics 46 may be formed with slidably interengaging mating profiles. In a modification the split rings are replaced by chains. |
