The offset ends of bus-bars 16A-16N project from a-duct 10 and overlap the offset ends of busbars 21A-21N projecting from a duct 11, pairs of bars being spaced apart by insulators 50-54. A joint enclosure is provided by extensions 27, 28 of the side walls 19, 20 of duct 11 overlapping extensions 23, 24 of the side walls 14, 15 of duct 10, gasket strips 36 and 37 providing a watertight seal, and by the top and bottom covers (33), (32) (Fig. 5, not shown). The bars are clamped by an insulated bolt 56, co-operating with a nut (57), the bolt and nut having insulating shields 64 and 67, gaskets 65 and 68 preventing the entry of moisture to the bolt apertures. The shields may be of transparent plastics material, and the clamping pressure is adjusted until spring washers (59), (62) are completely flattened. Further gaskets (41) held on bosses (40) on insulating blocks (39) seal the endsof the busway sections adjacent the joint enclosure, together with gasket cushions (34), (35) in the top and bottom covers 33, 32. |
