The second component acts as a "randomizing agent" and prevents formation of blocks of the alkenyl aromatic compounds. In examples, butadiene or isoprene are copolymerized with styrene in the presence of pre-formed or in situ formed catalysts comprising n-butyl lithium and sodium or potassium hydroxides. |
