Parts 3 for use in forming a slide fastener are adhered to a tape 5 which is subsequently rolled either side out on a reel. In the form shown end stops 3 are secured to the tape, but the invention may also be applied to packaging sliders. The parts may be applied to the tape at the same time as the adhesive, or they may have been applied previously. The parts may be spaced on the tape, so that they form teeth for engaging a toothed feed wheel in a machine for riveting the parts to the fastener strip, and a second adhesive tape may be applied on the opposite face of the parts 3. The strip may alternatively be fed in the riveting machine by a worm, a rubber roller or a reciprocating push rod. After the parts have been secured to the fastener strip the waste carrier strip may be coiled, or the carrier strip may be cut into portions each carrying one part. |
