1,182,703. Polyolefin coatings. KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE A.G. 6 Sept., 1967 [6 Sept., 1966], No. 40772/67. Heading B2K. A method of forming a coating of vulcanised or cross-linked polyolefine, the flow temperature of which is approximately equal to or higher than the vulcanisation or cross-linking temperature, to a metal section of any crosssectional shape, comprises forming a powder mixture by intimately mixing the polyolefine in pulverulent form with a vulcanization or cross-linking agent in pulverulent form and applying the powder mixture to the heated section, the latter having been brought to a temperature such that the powder mixture is melted and immediately thereafter vulcanized or cross-linked. The powder mixture may also comprise a pulverulent expanding agent and may be applied to the metal section by means of electrostatic field. The metal section may be heated by passage through a high frequency field or with hot air. An expanding agent may be present to produce a foamed coating and the method may be used for coating wire. |
